Appomattox Co., VA – 6:00 a.m. Appomattox County Schools will be closed today as a precautionary measure. The search for 39-year old Christopher Speight continues and will widen at daybreak. State Police and local authorities still believe the suspect is isolated in an area about two miles wide and 1000 feet deep near where the shootings took place on Snapps Mill Road. Speight is beleived to be armed with a high powered rifle. ABC 13 News has learned that Speight has been employed as a security guard, and recently did security work at the Sunshine Market #2 on Campbell Avenue in Lynchburg. Sources tell us he worked there as recently as this past Saturday night. Police are also searching for Speight’s two vehicles. They are described as a 1997 tan Ford Escort LX and a 1996 green Ford F-150 pickup. State Police say a lone shooter was responsible.
UPDATE: They captured this guy at around 7am this morning. He turned himself into police. Okay, now I can breath a sigh of relief.
